Helping at FPYC

By Julie Peaney

So you want to be a Camp Helper ...

You're not alone. Oddly it's one of the most sought after positions around FPYC. Why? Who knows! You get to toil away at the beck and call of the Caretaker doing all manner of hard labor. And for what - a free week of camp. Ok, well maybe it is worth it.

So many Helper applicants have stepped forward that a set of requirements has been put in place. Here's how it works.

  • First, you write a letter addressed to the Caretakers describing why you want to be a camp helper. Let them know what week(s) you have available to serve. Get the letter in sooner rather than later as the slots are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
  • When you are selected, you will be notified and given a list of things to bring: Work clothes, etc., and when to arrive.

Remember to get the letter in as soon as possible. Some write and turn in their letter at the close of the camp season for helper positions for the next year.

Good luck on becoming a Camp Helper.
