There are no towns very close to the camp where you can buy gas, snacks, etc. So you may want to fill up in one of the more “nearby” towns: Hibbing (45 miles), Nashwauk (38 miles), Effie (19 miles), Bigfork (27 miles), Grand Rapids (50 miles), or Virginia (60 miles). These directions are offered with the understanding that there are many alternate routes. The best route from the Twin Cities to camp has long been a subject for debate; two are offered here.

From the Twin Cities:

• Take I-35 north to Cloquet.
• Take Hwy. 33 north.
• Take Hwy. 53 north.
• Take Hwy. 22 west (Left).
• Take Hwy. 65 north (Right).
• Take Hwy. 1 west at Togo (Left).
• FPYC on left side about 6 miles in on 1.

From the Twin Cities II:

• Take Hwy. 65 north out of Twin Cities.
• Take Hwy. 1 west at Togo (Left).
• FPYC on left side about 6 miles in on 1.

From Hibbing:

• Take Hwy. 169 north out of town.
• Take Hwy. 5 northwest (Left).
• Take Hwy. 22 west (Left).
• Take Hwy. 65 north (Right).
• Take Hwy. 1 west at Togo (Left).
• FPYC on left side about 6 miles in on 1.

From Grand Rapids:

• Take Hwy. 169 east out of town.
• Take Hwy. 65 north at Nashwauk (Left).
• Take Hwy. 1 west at Togo (Left).
• FPYC on left side about 6 miles in on 1.

From St. Cloud:

• Take Hwy. 23 northeast from town.
• Take Hwy. 65 north at Mora (Left).
• Take Hwy. 1 west at Togo (Left).
• FPYC on left side about 6 miles in on 1.
