FPYC Summer Sessions

Junior Camp is for ages 9-13 and typically starts off the FPYC summer schedule. The focus of Junior week is to make a camper’s first experiences at FPYC safe, comfortable, and exciting. To that end, the staff to camper ratio at Jr. Camp is very high, and campers are closely supervised at all times. The camper’s daily schedule from wake up call to bedtime is highly structured and includes bible classes, song periods, rest time, sports, crafts, games, devotionals and prayer time.

A biblical theme is interwoven throughout classes and activities and emphasized at various times each day. In the evenings, campers will participate in Crazy Campfire, the Camp Carnival, the Talent Show, and the Pirate Game.  A Master Camper award is given at the end of the week to campers who demonstrate achievement in fundamental bible knowledge and application, as well as in selected sports and/or activities.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us.”           -Ephesians 3:20

The theme of Senior Camp this year is “Rise Up”.  We’d like to encourage the teens to throw off the low expectations that most adults have of them (and they have of themselves) and prove that they are capable of great things.

History gives us example after example of young men and women who accomplished amazing things in part because they hadn’t been yet told they were incapable of them.  Many of the stories in the Bible involved young men and women exercising great faith.  There’s no reason that we can’t expect the same out of the young men and women of the generation.

Have you been to First Family recently?  We have a canoe-load of fun.  We put a lot of time into slowing down.  That may sound rather strange, but making memories at camp is sometimes not an accident.  Every part of the session, from the Bible Teachers to the beach-side activities to the singing around the camp-fire, there's both elements of tradition and thoughtful additions of something new.  Camp can be a great place to retreat, rest, focus, and re-create.

May the Lord fill you up with a full cup at camp this year.  Thanks to God, we have a beautiful, joyous place to meet, laugh, and love.

See you at camp!

Young Adults Weekend
The focus is for this to be a time for young adults(ages 19-30ish), married or single, without their children (if they have any) to reconnect with camp.

During this jam packed weekend we will attempt to cram an entire week of camp complete with hiking, canoeing, campfires, games and praise and worship time.

Re-establish your love and connection with camp by finding your place and allowing camp to find reclaim it's place in you.

2nd Family Camp
More like a real church than …well…a real church.  Come and enjoy a week of community where life is lived well…and shared together.

Whether it is being fully immersed in a bubbly tidal wave of dish soap slip and slide…or watching the grandparents and adopted aunts and uncles belly laughing with the spectator sidelines…

Whether it is a serious conversation of last year’s struggles with a new friend, sharing the joys of the past year reconnecting with friends of past sessions, or listening to a ‘crazy campfire’ story with ‘stranger’ friends of all ages…

Whether it is lifting voices and having hearts lifted by passionate worship…listening, participating or simply watching teens and ‘below’ with hands and voices raised in praise to God, or a quiet morning prayer group with some women in the lodge…

Whether it is joining in a loud dining hall full of chaos and the cacophony of voices of all ages…or a sing along with the dish crew volunteering after a meal…..

Whether it is a game of softball, volleyball, ‘water basketball’…or a game of ‘smear’ late at night in the dining hall…

Whether there are fish on the stringer, or still left in the lake….

Whether there is a group of ‘adults’ lying in a line on highway one star gazing and hoping for a glimpse of Northern lights…

Whether it is a group discussion of important values and perspectives in the adult bible class, or the 6 and 7 year old “Bible Superheroes” or “FBI” (Faithful Bible Investigators!)…or the 2s and 3s in a wagon train line going from class toward song period’’’…..

Whether or not there are mosquitoes, horse flies…or…mosquitoes…

We think you’ll agree….’there’s no place on earth you’d rather be…

…than with the cries of the loon and the laughter of friends that beckon you to the wild Northern woods’ (and Second Family Camp!)
